What I Read in October

October was a rough month for my family.  We learned that my brother and sister-in-law lost their precious baby Henry somewhere around 30-32 weeks gestation.  He has a twin brother, Peter, who survived and will be delivered this week.  Our hearts are broken for my brother and sister-in-law, and we're all grieving the member of our family we'll never get to meet, but we're comforted in the knowledge that death is not the end and that we will see sweet Henry one day.

While October was a fairly dreary month for my family, my reading was definitely back on track. In addition to yoga, I filled my month with a Harry Potter marathon like no other with Sugar Bear. And that's about it.  Books, yoga, Harry P and, of course, my Criminal Minds obsession, which continues to rage.

Here's what I read:

Philippa Rice
Frank Schaeffer
Grady Hendrix
Liar Temptress Soldier Spy
Karen Abbott
Station Eleven
Emily St. John Mandel
Daniella Martin
Kanae Minato
Rainbow Rowell
Man v. Nature
Diane Cook
This Is the Water
Yannick Murphy
I'll Give You the Sun
Jandy Nelson
Jeff VanderMeer
GI Brides
Duncan Barret and Nuala Calvi
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow And Other Stories
Washington Irving

A.J. Betts
On Immunity: An Inoculation

I'm at 148 books read towards my goal of 175 for the year.

What did you read in October?

  1. Julie, I'm so sorry for your family's loss. You are right, you will meet that lovebug one day. We are here for you if you need to talk.

  2. I am so, so sorry to hear about the loss of the baby. That happened to one of my friends (at a similar point of gestation) last year, and it was (still is) absolutely devastating for the family. My thoughts are with all of you. And I will be praying for little Peter to have a quick and easy birth!
