Weekend at Tybee Island

My cousin Katie got married this weekend on Tybee Island, where we've spent all our summers growing up.  My uncle, not her daddy, but a different uncle, owns a resort on the island and it's always been a special place for our family.  So of course Katie's wedding made a great reason for a mini-vacation.  We usually vacation with my family every summer and didn't get to this year, so it was a great get-away.  I spent my weekend reading on the beach:
The weather was amazing - in the 70's and breezy.  So nice that I sat on the beach reading for several hours and get a crazy half body sunburn without realizing I was burning.

It's a six hour drive from Chattanooga to Tybee and we were sleepy.  Also very squished in the backseat of my parents' little car.

All the siblings, minus David and Elisabeth.

Sarah and Aaron during lunch at Marlin Monroe's on the beach.

Sweet Mama and Daddy at Marlin Monroe's.

At the chapel - fun fact: the chapel that Katie got married at was the one that was made for the filming of that Miley Cyrus movie that was made from a Nicholas Sparks book.

Here you can see my lovely crazy spotty sunburn.

I love my family!  We had a great time and got to see a lot of family that we don't get to see very often.  The only thing that would have made it better would be if David and Elisabeth and Baby George had been there too.  I didn't get as much reading done as I had hoped, but those hours on the beach were amazing.  The perfect start the Fall Book Challenge that my reading group is working on!
