And, for the record, we say almost all of the above words completely differently. So fun to think about the variety of accents in this country!!
I've got one...What do you call the public drinking machine that dispenses water when you press a button? (Like we have in schools.)(Not a great description, I know.)
I guess I'm going to have to do this vlog now, because people say I have an accent. I don't.
ReplyDeleteOh Julie, you have SUCH a Southern accent..teeheee.
ReplyDeleteI'll post mine soon. Yes Angel, DO IT! *peer pressure
I can really hear the Southern accent when you say "oil," "fire," and "pecan." Your accent reminds me of my family members who live in KY. I remember the first time I heard one of them call a shopping cart a "buggy." I was so confused!
ReplyDeleteYou're the first person I've found who pronounces "syrup" the way I do. Woo!
I love that you were so sure of yourself, "When that happens, it's because Satan is beating is wife." No question about it :)
ReplyDeleteMrs.DeRaps - I call it a water fountain...what do you call it?
ReplyDeleteJacki - Are you trying to tell me the devil doesn't beat his wife? Because I'm fairly sure he is the kind of guy who would do that
Everyone else - this was the controlling myself version! I got teased a LOT in junior high for my accent and worked really hard to get rid of it. Should I make a video where I really let it all loose? I still have to make myself say "or-ange" instead or "ahrnge" and "my" instead of "mah".
Cute accent. =)
ReplyDeleteI think you sound really Southern too. Not too strong of an accent, but still sound Southern. Maybe I'll do this one too. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think you SOUND that Southern (at least here, I think you sound more Southern IRL), but you definitely say a lot of Southern-y things...like "because the Devil is beating his wife"!! OMG so cute. Haha.
ReplyDeleteI just remember the first time I met you thinking your voice was the cutest thing ever. It totally made me like you 1,000 times more :)
You mainly don't have an accent... I would say. I mean, you do, but your pronunciation is so clear. Pecan though, every time I hear that word I think of you and how you said you were saying it right because your Granddaddy has a pecan farm so of course your way is the right way to say it. :)
ReplyDeleteI would say you've got just a bit of a southern bell accent, which your get from your amazing mom of course :)
I've never vlogged before, I should try it though.
