The Hunger Games Review, Playlist, and Giveaway!

Poor Lukey.  I finished my re-read of The Hunger Games last night and he had to put up with me swooning around the house for the rest of the evening.  This is how it went:

Me: ::Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh::
Luke: ::ignoring::
Me:  I SAID :Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh::
Luke: I heard you.
Me: ::Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh::
Luke: Fine.  Why are you sighing?
Me:  Peeeeeeeeeeeeeeta.  And Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaale.  Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh.
Luke: ::eye rolling::

Repeat x 50.

Now the fun part.  I made a playlist right after my re-read of The Hunger Games, while it was fresh on my mind.  I also got input from Melissa, Heather, and Carin on this one (and Bestie of course).  All of them are good friends and great bloggers, so after you're done with the Hunger Games you should check them out.

I'm listing my playlist with applicable lyrics here.  Want to know the best part?  I'm giving away a copy of the CD!  Follow my blog, leave a comment with your email address, and next week I'll post the winner and mail you a copy of the official Book Hooked Hunger Games CD.  Warning: spoilers are included! Another warning: this is not an angsty emo music CD or a super hip, no one has ever heard of this band CD.  This is me and all of my cheesey music taste in full, old lady glory!  If you have been lucky enough to receive a Julie G. mixed CD before, you know of which I speak.

Papparazi - Lady Gaga (I have to confess that I'm including this at Bestie's insistance.  I hate that downloading this will mean giving that woman 99 cents of my hard earned money - but it does fit)
"We are the crowd
We are c-coming out
Got my flash on it's true
Need that picture of you"

One Girl Revolution - Superchick

"Some people see the revolution but most only see the girl
I can lose my hard-earned freedom if my fear defines my world
I declare my independence from the critics and their stones
I can find the revolution, I can learn to stand alone"

Eye of the Tiger - Survivor
"the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night..."

Knights of Cydonia - Muse
"No one's gonna take me alive
Time has come to make things right
You and I must fight for our rights
You and I must fight to survive"

The Distance - Cake
"He's going the distance
He's going for ... speed
She's all alone, all alone in her time of need"

On Your Wings - Iron and Wine
"God, there are guns growing out of our bones
God, every road takes us farther from home"

Change - Taylor Swift (hahaha revenge on Bestie for Lady Gaga)
"But these things will change, can you feel it now
The walls they put up to hold us back will fall down
It's a revolution"

Iris - Goo Goo Dolls
"I'd give up forever to touch you
Cause I know that you feel me somehow"

To Make You Feel My Love - Adele
"I've known it from the moment that we met
There was no doubt in my mind where you belong
I'd go hungry, I'd go black and blue...
No, there's nothing that I wouldn't do
To make you feel my love"

Wonderwall - Oasis
"I said maybe you're gonna be the one that saves me
After all, you're my wonderwall"

Just a Girl - No Doubt
"I'm just a girl living in captivity
Your rules of thumb make me worrisome"

Uprising - Muse
"Rise up and take the power back
It's time the fat cats had a heart attack"

Since You've Been Gone - Kelly Clarkson (bwahaha for wussy Peeta when he gets rejected at the end!)
"How can I put it, you put me on
I even fell for that stupid love song...
How come I never hear you say 'I just want to be with you'
Guess you never felt that way"

I'll Never Break Your Heart - Backstreet Boys (another whiny, weepy Peeta song - how typical)
"From the first day I saw your smiling face
Honey I knew we would be together forever...
Oooh when I asked you out
You said no" (the song ends here.  seriously.  Katniss says no, the end).

Jesse's Girl - Rick Springfield (just substitute Gale for Jesse)
"She's watching him with those eyes
And she's loving him with that body I just know it...
I wish that I had Jesse's (Gale's) girl"

There you go!  I could keep doing this all night, but this post is already wayyyy long enough.

  5. Love the playlist! I almost screamed when I saw Superchick on there! When I was in 9th grade-ish I was obsessed with that song. I saw them in concert and thought they were soo cool! lol And then that song was definitely in a Mary Kate and Ashley movie haha.

  6. Late 90s Oasis, Cake, and Goo Goo Dolls with a little Taylor Swift mixed in- I think we have the exact same wonderfully dorky taste in music =). And want to know something funny, my latest playlist is equal parts Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga.

    I love all of your HG posts. They are cracking me up!
